Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
