The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
