The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the mansions of the stars, 1 And the promised day, 2 by the witness and the witnessed, 3 may the people be condemned those who tortured (the believers) in ditches 4 the makers of the fuel-stoked fire! 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 fully conscious of what they are doing to the believers, 7 whom they hate for no other reason than that they believe in God, the Almighty, the One to whom all praise is due, 8 To Him only belongs the kingship of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness over all things. 9 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 The grip of your Lord is indeed severe, 12 It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life). 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 in sublime almightiness enthroned, 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 HAS IT ever come within thy ken, the story of the [sinful] hosts 17 [Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie: 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, 21 (Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)! 22
