Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 Let whoever wishes, turn away from Our Quran. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
