The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
