Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 142 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in this here, 146 In gardens and watersprings. 147 “And fields and palm-trees, with delicate tendrils?” 148 Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 Who work corruption in the land and rectify not. 152 They said: thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 "You are but a human being like us. Then bring us a sign if you are of the truthful." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day." 156 But they hamstrung her and so became regretful. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159
