The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
