The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And the Book written 2 in an exposed parchment 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
