The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and give warning! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
