In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the clear Book. 1 We have sent it down as an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand. 2 We recount to you the best of narratives in revealing this Quran to you, even though you were unaware of it before it came. 3 LO! Thus spoke Joseph unto his father: "O my father! Behold, I saw [in a dream] eleven stars, as well as the sun and the moon: I saw them prostrate themselves before me!" 4 He said: "O son, do not narrate your dream to your brothers, or they will plot against you. Surely Satan is man's acknowledged foe. 5 "Thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of dreams (and other things) and perfect His Favour on you and on the offspring of Ya'qub (Jacob), as He perfected it on your fathers, Ibrahim (Abraham) and Ishaque (Isaac) aforetime! Verily, your Lord is All-Knowing, All-Wise." 6
