The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 And do not withhold from people what belongs to them, and do not corrupt the land; 183 And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old. 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
