He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
