The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
