Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
