The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
