And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
