Those who spend their wealth by day and by night, in private and in public, their wage is with their Lord, and no fear shall be on them, neither shall they sorrow. 274 THOSE who gorge themselves on usury behave but as he might behave whom Satan has confounded with his touch; for they say: "Buying and selling is but a kind of usury" - the while God has made buying and selling lawful and usury unlawful. Hence, whoever becomes aware of his Sustainer's admonition, and thereupon desists [from usury,] may keep his past gains, and it will be for God to judge him; but as for those who return to it - they are destined for the fire, therein to abide! 275 Allah destroys usury and increases charity; and Allah does not like any ungrateful, excessive sinner. 276 Surely they who believe and do good deeds and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate they shall have their reward from their Lord, and they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve. 277 O you who believe! Be careful of (your duty to) Allah and relinquish what remains (due) from usury, if you are believers. 278 But if you do (it) not, then be apprised of war from Allah and His Apostle; and if you repent, then you shall have your capital; neither shall you make (the debtor) suffer loss, nor shall you be made to suffer loss. 279 And if any man should be in difficulties, let him have respite till things are easier; but that you should give freewill offerings is better for you, did you but know. 280 Fear the Day when you shall be returned to Allah. And every soul shall be paid in full what it has earned; and they shall not be harmed. 281
