The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
