Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 Others will be despondent, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
