The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
