The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
