The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
