▼ 37 The Arrangers
Al-Saaffaat 5 of 5
Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be produced before Him [for judgement]. 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, – 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! 182

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
