Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
