The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
