The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
