He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
