The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
