The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 They were therefore defeated here and they turned back humiliated. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They replied: 'We shall surely turn to our Lord. 125 "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! 126
