۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
