And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. 50
