And [yet,] they have a sign [of Our power to create and to resurrect] in the lifeless earth which We make alive, and out of which We bring forth grain, whereof they may eat; 33 and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 So that they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not! 36 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 37 And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. 38 And We have appointed positions for the moon till it returns like an old branch of the date palm. 39 It is not permitted to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day: each in an orbit, they float. 40 And a sign for them is that We lodged them in a laden ship, while they were in their forefathers backs. 41 And We have created for them similar ships, in which they now ride. 42 We drown them if We will, then they have none to cry to, nor can they be saved, 43 except Our mercy which could enable them to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 44 But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy... " 45 and whenever a revelation out of their Lord's revelations comes to them, they ignore it. 46 And when it is said unto them: expend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: shall we feed those whom God Himself would have fed, if He listed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 48 They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing. 49 They will have no time to make a will, nor shall they return to their own people. 50
