۞ Have you not considered those who practice hypocrisy, saying to their brothers who have disbelieved among the People of the Scripture, "If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will not obey, in regard to you, anyone - ever; and if you are fought, we will surely aid you." But Allah testifies that they are liars. 11 If they are expelled or fought against, they will not go with them, nor will they help them. Indeed, if they helped them, they would turn their backs and then they would not be helped. 12 Indeed in their hearts is a greater fear of you than that of Allah; this is because they are a people who do not understand. 13 They will never fight against you all together except from fortified villages or from behind walls. Their courage is great among themselves; you think them to be united, yet their hearts are not united. That is because they are a people who have no sense. 14 Like those who a short time before them tasted the mischief of their action; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 15 Their parable is that of Satan when he says to man: “Disbelieve,” but when he disbelieves, he says: “I am quit of you. Verily I fear Allah, the Lord of the Universe.” 16 Both of them will end up in Hell, where they will abide for ever. This is the punishment for the wicked. 17
