Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
