Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
