Al-A 'araaf 2 of 24
We created you, then We shaped you, then We said to the angels: 'Bow yourselves to Adam'; so they bowed themselves, save Iblis -- he was not of those that bowed themselves. 11 God asked, "What made you disobey Me?" Satan replied, "I am better than Adam, for You have created me out of fire and Adam out of clay." 12 Allah said: then get thee down from hence; not for thee is it to be stiff-necked herein. So go thou forth; verily thou art of the abject ones. 13 He said: Reprieve me till the day when they are raised (from the dead). 14 And God said: "You have the respite." 15 (Iblis) said: "Because You have sent me astray, surely I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your Straight Path. 16 Then surely I will come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right and from their left, and Thou shalt not find the most of them thankful. 17 He said, “Exit from here, rejected, outcast; indeed whoever among them follows your bidding, I will fill hell with all of you.” 18 And [as for thee,] O Adam, dwell thou and thy wife in this garden, and eat, both of you, whatever you may wish; but do not approach this one tree, lest you become evildoers!" 19 Then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said: "Your Lord only forbade you this tree, lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever." 20 Satan swore before them that he was giving them good advice. 21 So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became manifest to them and they began to stick together the leaves of Paradise over themselves (in order to cover their shame). And their Lord called out to them (saying): "Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Shaitan (Satan) is an open enemy unto you?" 22 They replied, "Our Lord, we have wronged our souls: if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall be among the lost." 23 Said He: "Down with you, [and be henceforth] enemies unto one another, having on earth your abode and livelihood for a while: 24 He continued: 'You shall live there, and there shall you die, and from it you shall be raised to life.' 25
