The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
