And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
