The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 in the nearer part of the land; and, after their vanquishing, they shall be the victors 3 Within ten years - Allah's is the command in the former case and in the latter - and in that day believers will rejoice 4 With the help of Allah. He helps whom He will, and He is exalted in might, most merciful. 5 This is the promise of God. God does not ignore His promise, but many people do not know. 6 They know an outward part of the present life, but of the Hereafter they are heedless. 7 Do they not ponder about their own selves? God has created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for a purpose and for an appointed time? Yet many deny they will ever meet with their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they rejected the communications of Allah and used to mock them. 10
