S (Saad)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. 7 Was the message sent only to him out of all of us?" In fact, they doubt My warning; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lout (Lot), and the dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates. 13 not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. 14
