The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
