He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
