And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnain. Say: "I shall recite to you something of his story." 83 Lo! We made him strong in the land and gave him unto every thing a road. 84 Then he followed a way. 85 until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and he found nearby a people. We said, 'O Dhool Karnain, either thou shalt chastise them, or thou shalt take towards them a way of kindness.' 86 He said: As to him who is unjust, we will chastise him, then shall he be returned to his Lord, and He will chastise him with an exemplary chastisement: 87 “And regarding one who believed and did good deeds – so his reward is goodness; and we shall soon give him an easy command.” 88 Then he set out on another expedition 89 until he reached the rising of the sun, he found it rising upon a nation for whom We provided no veil against it to shade them. 90 This indeed was true. We knew all that he did there. 91 Then he followed the road, 92 when he reached between the two barriers he found on one side of them a nation who could barely understand speech. 93 They said: O Zul-Qarnain verily Yajuj and Majuj are working corruption in the land; shall we then pay thee tribute on condition that thou place between us and them a barrier! 94 He said, “That which my Lord has given me control over is better, therefore help me with strength – I shall set up a barrier between you and them.” 95 bring me blocks of iron." Then, when he had filled the gap between the mountain sides [he said], "Now blow on the fire with your bellows." When the iron blocks were red with heat, he said, "Bring me molten brass to pour on them." 96 Such was the rampart that Gog and Magog could not scale, nor could they pierce it. 97 He said, 'This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it into powder; and my Lord's promise is ever true.' 98 ۞ On that day We shall leave them to surge like waves on one another: the trumpet will be blown, and We shall collect them all together. 99 And We shall bring hell in front of the disbelievers. 100 They whose eyes were under a cover from My reminder and they could not even hear. 101
