The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
