He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives and palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
