The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
