The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
