The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
