And certainly We gave Musa the Book and We appointed with him his brother Haroun an aider. 35 Then We said, "Go together to the people who have denied Our signs." We utterly destroyed them! 36 The same was the case with the people of Noah when they charged the Messenger with imposture: We drowned them and made them a sign of warning for entire mankind, and We have prepared a painful chastisement for the unjust. 37 to 'Ad, and Thamud, and the people of al-Rass, and as We did for the many a generation between them. 38 To each one We set forth Parables and examples; and each one We broke to utter annihilation (for their sins). 39 And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil. So have they not seen it? But they are not expecting resurrection. 40 And when they see you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) they take you but as a mockery, “Is this the one whom Allah sent as a (Noble) Messenger?” 41 He would have mislead us from our gods, if we had not been steadfast to them' But they shall know who is further astray from the Path when they see the punishment. 42 Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him? 43 Do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like the cattle; nay, even worse than the cattle. 44
