And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
